Tutor Apps – Learn Smarter, Connect Faster

Description

Tutor App serves as the central workspace in a multi-role online tutoring ecosystem, connecting tutors, students, and parents in one seamless platform. The goal is to give tutors full control over their expertise, availability, sessions, and earnings, while students can easily book tutors and parents can track their child’s progress. Although the ecosystem includes Student App and Parent App, the Tutor App is the primary operational hub, and the core of my UX work.

What I Did (Focus on Tutor App)

My main responsibility was designing the end-to-end tutor experience, including:

• Creating a tutor dashboard to manage status, profile, expertise, metrics, and earnings.

• Designing the expertise management flow for adding or editing teaching subjects.

• Structuring the session history timeline by month and day.

• Ensuring interface consistency across Tutor, Student, and Parent apps.

• Integrating student activity and parent feedback into the tutor’s UI in a meaningful way.

Student App and Parent App are positioned as contextual modules, but the UX depth and design decisions were centered around Tutor App.

• Online/Offline Availability Control
  One-tap toggle with clear visual feedback and contextual messaging.

• Expertise Management
  Tutors can organize subjects, skill levels, and teaching specializations.

• Performance Insights
  Real-time metrics including followers, quick-help sessions, total minutes taught, rating score, and daily earnings.

• Session History Timeline
  Monthly summaries + daily breakdowns (minutes taught, student details, earnings, and ratings).

• Financial Tracking
  Transparent earning overview for day, week, and month.

Challenges & Solutions

• Overloaded tutor dashboard
  → Introduced modular card layout and clearer visual hierarchy for easy scanning.

• Long and repetitive session history
  → Designed a clean monthly grouping + daily timeline structure.

• Confusion around online/offline state
  → Added a dedicated availability card with clear CTA and color-coded status.

• Cross-app data complexity
  → Established a unified information flow:
  – Student App → Tutor session timeline
  – Parent App → Tutor rating & performance
  – Tutor App → Student/parent visibility for sessions

Impact

• Tutors can understand their performance significantly faster.
